New User? Here's Some Notes For Getting Started.

Once you're registered as a friend of The Wisdom Trust, these notes will help you get started, including.

- 1. How to earn credits (Fundraising Credits, or FC's & Gift Credits) to divert money to your chosen charities and build your own personal wisdom Trust 'charity/grant' fund.

- 2. How to vote to make sure your favourite charities get as large a share as possible of our main donations fund.

- 3. How to contribute to our fund without any effort, and, more importantly, without the need for you to put your hands in your pocket.

- 4. How to introduce your friends, family and colleagues to join us too.

- 5. How to invite other charites and good causes to sign-up as one of our listed organisations and receive donations from our fund.

There are also a series of powerpoint presentations on the website to help you find out more about how The Wisdom Trust works and how you can become an important part of our team, helping us make a difference all around the world, as well as supporting your own favourite good cause at the same time.

What do you need to do?

- 1. Try to log in every day, or three times a week, and use the education programs (particularly Wisdom Aware and Wisdom IQ - accessed from the Education menu) to earn credits (Fundraising Credits or FC's). Aim to get an average of 10 or 11 per day (you get one FC for every question you get right). Get into the habit of this so it almost becomes second nature. You can check the current value of your own personal Wisdom Trust 'charity/grant' fund online 24/7 using the stats link on the Members menu. And you can see your position in The Wisdom Trust hall of fame using the Hall of Fame link on the Members menu.

Remember, your personal Wisdom Trust 'charity/grant' fund grows in value for every Fundraising Credit you get. You can use the value of your fund to a) make donations to any of the charities and good causes on our list; b) apply for a Wisdom Eco Grant to help fund things like solar panels in order to reduce your carbon footprint at home or at the office;c) apply for a Wisdom Education Grant (if you're a student or former student) to offset the cost of your education; d) use our carbon calculator and offset some of your personal carbon footprint.

Every now and then, you'll get the opportunity to earn Gift Credits instead of Fundraising Credits. These build up on your account and you can donate them at any time, to any of the charities and good causes on our list. To donate your Gift Credits, go into Wisdom IQ (from the Education menu) and click on the donate button at the bottom of the screen. A voucher will appear and you select how many Gift Credits you want to donate and the charity you wish to donate to.

**** IMPORTANT **** Start-Up Bonus Awards: Within your first 2 weeks, if you get 60 FC's and introduce 2 new members who each get a minimum of 15 FC's, you'll be awarded 10,000 extra FC's as a special start-up bonus. Then encourage the two new people you brought on board to do the same. And when they get their award we'll add a further 2,500 FC's to your total.

- 2. Help us choose the charities and good causes we support by using the Vote link on the Members menu. You can vote for one organisation on each of the two drop-down lists. And if you should reach 10 FC's in a day, you'll get another vote.

- 3. Every day, you can help put some money into our fund without putting your hands in your pocket....

a) You can run a few of your normal online searches on each visit, using our partner search engines (Search on the Resources menu).

b) Or you can run a few price comparisons for things you might want to buy on each visit, using our partner price comparison engines (Pricecheck on the Resources menu).

c) You can also simply visit the websites of some of our featured advertisers (Surf on the Resources menu).

Every search, every price comparison and every visit to an advertiser's website earns money for our fund. Aim for 2 or 3 of each of the above 3 activities on each visit.

And if you shop online, you can shop through The Wisdom Trust shopping mall (Shopping Mall on the Resources menu) and everything you buy will earn money for our fund, at no extra cost or inconvenience to you.

- 4. Once you're in the habit of doing the above three things every day, reach out to some of your friends and family - especially those who already have a passion for helping charitable causes - because we can help them raise money for their favourite good cause.

You'll find two standard emails using the Invite New Members link on the Members menu, one for individuals and one for charities. Use the appropriate links to send these to yourself, then forward them from your email address to any of your friends, family or colleagues who use the internet, especially those who already shop online, and even more so to those people you know who are passionate about raising money for one good cause or another.

Once people start to sign-up and become part of your own Wisdom Trust network, you can check the state of your personal Wisdom Trust family tree using the Genealogy link on the Members menu.

- 5. Use the standard email for organisations, detailed in point 4, to invite any organisations you know who need to raise money. Talk to them first, find out the right contact name and email address then send them the email from your personal email address. They can register themselves on the website and then invite all their supporters to join too in order to vote for them.

**** SPECIAL INCENTIVE FOR SCHOOLS **** Every month, the student at each school who through their various introductions to family, friends and neighbours etc., produces the most online shoppers during the month, will receive a special prize. One prize will be allocated per month to each participating school and all winning students will receive a certificate in addition to their prize.

So to summarise... on each visit, you a) learn something new; b) earn 10 or 11 FC's; c) vote for your favourite charities; d) run 2 or 3 searches; e) run 2 or 3 price comparisons; and f) visit the websites of 2 or 3 of our advertising partners. Six things to do on each visit - probably about 10 minutes effort each time. And invite three or four of your friends to do the same.

Remember, our motto is: "Do A Little - Help A Lot!"

Our Mission.

The charitable objective of The Wisdom Trust is to generate awareness about the big issues facing the future of our planet, such as poverty, the environment and health, through innovative online education programmes. Operating across the international community, we will continue to engage individuals, charitable organisations and private companies, by ensuring they always have the freedom to decide their involvement with us.

Our mission is achieved through a series of principles that guide how we work: we call it The Wisdom Trust Way.

- We guarantee that signing-up is not a life-long commitment; it just makes you a member. What you do then is your choice.

- We continually aspire to provide a flexible range of educational tools, accessible to a diverse global population 24/7.

- Our view on fundraising is clear and our concept unique - no hands in pockets and active support of the charitable community as a whole.

- We aim to empower people, of all age groups and backgrounds, by suggesting simple ways of doing their "bit".

- By working together, we achieve more, so creating friendship, goodwill and understanding across all boundaries is core to our mission and our success.

- We believe that maximum visibility means minimal confusion and we aim to be 100% accountable for our activity and our expenditure.

About Us.

The Wisdom Trust was founded in 2003 and gained registered charity status in November 2005. Through our work, we aim to increase awareness of poverty, environment and health issues facing the global community. To date we list over 5,500 registered members, and work to support over 500 charities and good causes - in 21 countries, worldwide.

Our fundraising total topped the £12,000 mark in 2007 with at least 50% of that income being set aside for donations to the other charitable organisations we support. At least another 25% of our income is used to enhance our education programs and to help people 'make a difference'. To facilitate this, we have a minimalist approach to overheads: we have no paid staff, no dedicated offices and absolutely no desire to change this!

As a registered charity, we are subject to the governance of the Charity Commission and are fully compliant with all aspects of charity law. Our accounts (for every year since 2005) are available for public inspection via the charity commission website, and, also at our offices in Caterham, Surrey.

Get Involved.

The Wisdom Trust is committed to playing its part in relieving poverty, protecting our environment and improving world health, and within a few clicks, you too can be part of our work.

As a friend of The Wisdom Trust, you'll be able to raise money for charitable causes by simply being online - whether you're searching or shopping you can have an impact on hundreds of charities, good causes and other 'not-for-profit' organisations, all over the world.

As with all the best ideas it's perfectly simple. Whenever you go online, it's likely that your activity is creating advertising revenue or ecommerce commissions. Whilst we can't say exactly where this money goes now, you can make sure that it reaches where it's needed most in the future, by using our website as a gateway to all your favourite shops, search engines, price comparisons and auction sites.

As well as increasing the fund for all our listed charities, as a member, you'll be able to help us choose how much each good cause receives in donations, nominate organisations to join our listings and even personally raise funds for the causes you support.

If you're interested in finding out more about the work of charitable organisations, and how you can help combat some of the problems facing our world today by making a few simple changes in your life, our website is packed full of informative tips, facts and quizzes. We also run a volunteer programme, so if you actually have the time to get involved, we'd be glad of your help.

It really is as easy as that! So why not sign up, get involved and start making a difference today?

Five Simple Ways You Can Help

1. Get involved on our website. You can participate in our online education programs to learn more about the big global issues and about what you can do to help make a difference. You could also become part of our research team, where you can research facts, tips and other items for our online databases, or even contribute articles of your own about any of the issues, for inclusion in our weekly newsletters. In this way, simply by using our website, you'll be contributing to charities and good causes worldwide, every time you're online.

2. We want to work with groups of people, of all ages and backgrounds, in all communities to set up Wisdom Trust-inspired charity support groups. These would be small local groups of local people, meeting together (in each others homes or in church/school halls) under the guidance of The Wisdom Trust, to plan and develop their own strategies for reaching out into their own communities, both to individuals (who can become friends of The Wisdom Trust and make a difference) and to organisations - hospitals, schools, churches, charities, sports clubs etc. (who can register with The Wisdom Trust to become potential beneficiaries of donations from our fund).

3. Anyone can participate in planning, organising and running our growing range of outside events. These include local environmental fairs, charity open days, exhibitions and roadshow events.

4. Because we work with over 500 different organisations, all over the country (and worldwide) we are aware that many of them have a need for volunteers from time to time, for regular activities or for one-off events. We are planning to develop a program where we will connect with each of the charities, understand their needs and seek to provide 'hit squads' of our members to work with particular charities for specified events. Everyone will be able to register as participants in this scheme, noting their availability for particular events detailed in the diary and then helping on the day.

5. Use your specialist skills to help our cause. Whether you're a website programmer, graphic designer, writer, language specialist, electronics wizard, or if you have skills in economics, finance, legal matters, strategy planning or indeed experience in any other field whatsoever, The Wisdom Trust (and all our listed organisations) could benefit from what you have to offer. Tell us what you can do and let's discuss how you can help us.

Sign-up today at www.wisdomtrust.org and become part of our team. It's free to do so and all you'll need is a valid email address.

S.U.R.F.- A Journey To Wisdom.

SURF is our latest campaign, described as a four-step "Journey to Wisdom". It's relevant for everyone, whatever their age or background and aims to inspire more involvement in all aspects of social responsibility.

Any organisation can encourage their staff, families, members and supporters alike on their "Journey to Wisdom", in a few easy clicks. Moreover, by registering themselves as one of our listed charities or good causes, an organisation would become eligible for regular donations from our main Donations Fund. So, what is SURF???

Support charitable causes while you're online.

By using our website for education, or simply as a gateway for your internet activity, everyone can support The Wisdom Trust and increase the value of our Donations Fund, divided quarterly amongst our listed charities.

Over 1000 commercial partners have agreed to donate to our fund either through advertising or, as a result of our members linking via www.wisdomtrust.org to their websites for searching the internet, comparing prices or shopping online.

It's simple! The more you use our website, the more you can help support our work and that of many charities worldwide. Aside from grants, we are committed to raising income through online streams and encourage our members to offer any direct donations to other charitable organisations.

Understand the issues.

Our view of Wisdom is threefold: learning, testing, applying. Our website has built-in education programmes that support this, with a focus on poverty, environment and health. Our online resource library contains thousands of facts and statistics about these important topics, together with articles, quizzes, puzzles and over 3,000 eco-tips and health-tips. We want to make it as easy as possible for everyone to make a difference.

Register your support.

It's free of charge to register as a friend of The Wisdom Trust. Once a member, you can impact how our Donations Fund is divided each quarter, by voting for listed charitable causes; you can nominate your own favourite causes to join our list; plus start creating a Personal Grant Fund, through use of our website, that can offset costs of education and environmental appliances like wind turbines and solar panels.

Form a network of friends and family.

Anyone who uses the internet can benefit from our programmes, and in turn you can benefit through their activity on our website, so introduce us to your friends, family and colleagues, or to anyone else you know who uses the internet. To us, networks aren't just wires and cables: we want to develop a true sense of community and connectivity between our members that crosses all borders.

Register Your Good Cause.

The Wisdom Trust currently lists over 500 charities and good causes in 22 different countries, and we donate 70% of our income every three months to support the work of each and every one of our partner organisations.

If your own favourite charitable cause isn't yet listed, why not nominate them today, get them on board and then you can start working with us to promote their issues on a global platform and raise money to support their work. To nominate any organisation, simply send them an email with a brief note about why you'd like to nominate them, and include a link to our website www.wisdomtrust.org. They'll be able to visit the website for themselves to find out about the many ways they could benefit by teaming up with The Wisdom Trust, before completing the very simple registration form. If you're a friend of The Wisdom Trust, log in and use the official nomination/invitation email provided - this includes a special link so that we'll know the new organisation was introduced by you.

Once the new charity or good cause is listed on our website, you'll be able to vote for them to get a share of our main Donations Fund and earn Fundraising Credits to channel even more funds their way from our Members' Fund. Plus you'll be able to introduce all your friends, family and colleagues and any other staff, members or supporters of the organisation, so they'll be able to add their support as well.

What sort of organisations can join our program? Well, pretty much any organisation, anywhere in the world, just so long as their basic business model is 'not-for-profit'. For example, that can include organisations such as charities, schools, hospitals, churches and other religious groups, city farms, wildlife sanctuaries, scouts, guides, community groups and local sports clubs.

Invite New Members - Forming A Network.

The Wisdom Trust exists to help create a wider awareness about the important issues affecting the future of our planet, especially poverty, environment and health. But we can only create a wider awareness if the number of people engaging with us keeps on increasing.

Everyone who uses the internet can join our cause and play their part, and you probably know dozens of people who use the internet - family, friends, colleagues and even all those contacts on websites such as Facebook, Myspace and Beebo. so why not help us spread the word by telling all those online people you know about The Wisdom Trust? It's such a little bit of effort but could help make a big difference.

Members.

Members can simply log in and go to the [Invite New Members] link on the [Members] menu. Cut and paste the text from the sample email you'll find there into an email of your own, and don't forget to include the website link within that sample email because that will link the new member to you when they click on it to register.

The benefit to you, as a member, when you introduce your friends, family and colleagues, is that any credits (FC's) and bonuses they accumulate will also add value to your own Wisdom Trust charity/grant fund, as well as adding value to the fund set aside for the charities you support. So the more people you introduce, the higher the potential for your own charity/grant fund and the greater the potential income for your favourite charities and good causes.

Not only that, when the people you introduce, introduce new members of their own, those '2nd generation' new members will also add value to your personal Wisdom Trust charity/grant fund and to the money set aside for your favourite causes, every time they earn a credit or get a bonus. Amazingly enough, the same applies for their friends and family and so on.... down through a minimum of eight generations of friends, family and collegues.

And should you introduce an organisation (school, church, charity, hospital, local sports club or community group, for example) when all their supporters join our cause to support that organisation, our system will recognise them as part of your network, so they'll also be adding value to your personal charity/grant fund and to the fund of your favourite charitable cause.

So think about everyone you know who's online and anyone you know who represents any organisation in need of funding, and send them an invitation email.

Non-Members.

Simply think about everyone you know who's online and anyone you know who represents any organisation in need of funding, and send them a short email of your own plus a link to The Wisdom Trust website.

But don't forget, if you first sign-up as a friend of The Wisdom Trust yourself, we'll open a special Wisdom Trust charity/grant fund in your name, and then anyone you introduce will be helping add to its value everytime they go online to learn through our education programs, search through our search partners or shop through our shopping mall. And when you register, you'll be able to tell us which is your favourite charity or good cause then all those friends, family and colleagues you introdfuce will be helping to raise money for that organisation as well.

Corporate Partnerships - Get Your Company Involved.

The Wisdom Trust works with charities, good causes and other not-for-profit organisations all over the world, but we're also happy to explore partnerships with companies and other corporate bodies to promote our issues and assist in that organisation's Corporate Social Responsibility programs.

If the company has its own charitable foundation, or if it has an annual charity fund, from which it donates to local, national or international charitable causes, we would be happy to list that as one of our good causes. Alternatively, if the company wishes, we can create a 'charity fund' in the company's name (e.g. XYZ Services Ltd. Charitable Fund) and list that one our website instead.

The company can then promote The Wisdom Trust to its management, staff, suppliers and customers, who can then engage with us individually, possibly even registering as friends of The Wisdom Trust themselves, to learn more about the big global issues (poverty, environment and health) and about thousands of simple things they can do to help make a difference. Individuals who register with us will also be able to participate in our Grants program to offset the cost of things like solar panels or wind turbines in their home, or, in the case of students, to offset against any outstanding costs of their education. Organisations who register with us can add themselves to our listed good causes, in the same way, and promote The Wisdom Trust to their own management, staff, suppliers and customers.

By reaching out in this way to help spread awareness and create a greater understanding about these important issues, the company's charity foundation, (or its charity fund) stands to benefit financially every time any of the people who engage with us, as a result, earn credits through our education programs, search the internet, shop online or introduce their own friends and family.

Thus, by partnering with The Wisdom Trust, a company will be enhancing their existing CSR activities, first by helping to create a wider awareness about the important issues affecting the future of our planet, and, as a result, possibly even help us to spread more friendship, goodwill and understanding across all racial, cultural, relgious and national boundaries; and second, by adding value to the financial support the company offers to the charitable causes it supports locally, nationally and internationally.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Definition.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR, also known as corporate responsibility, corporate citizenship, and responsible business) is a concept whereby organisations consider the interests of society by taking responsibility for the impact of their activities on customers, suppliers, employees, shareholders, communities and other stakeholders, as well as the environment.

This obligation is seen to extend beyond the statutory obligation to comply with legislation and sees organisations voluntarily taking further steps to improve the quality of life for employees and their families as well as for the local community and society at large.

How Can The Wisdom Trust Help Your Organisation?

If you're a registered charity or any other not-for-profit good cause, we can help promote your cause on our global platform, engage with your staff, supporters, members and their families to help create more awareness about the big global issues (poverty, environment and health) and about thousands of simple things everyone can do to help make a difference and, perhaps most importantly, provide regular donations to support your work and/or grants to help reduce the impact on the environment of your various operational activities. Simply register your cause on our website - completely without any cost whatsoever - promote The Wisdom Trust to your supporters and, if you wish, contact us to see how we can work more closely together.

Click To Make A Difference - It Couldn't Be Easier.

Many of our online shopping and advertising partners offer special deals from time to time and every day, we list a selection of these in our special [Surf] option from the [Resources] menu. Why not check out a few of their websites each day and see is there is anything of interest for you. And as a special incentive, we'll add a little bit extra to our main charity fund every time someone visits any of the websites listed on our Surf pages. We want you to look at their websites because we think some (or most) people will find their websites interesting. But don't just click in and out of each website. Check Out A Great Deal - For You And For Charity.

When any of us buys something, either online or in the shops, we always want to try to make sure we get the best possible price. Well now, by using The Wisdom Trust's price comparison partners, you can ensure that you never pay more than you need for anything you'll ever buy again. Our price comparison partners help you find the exact products which match your particular criteria, and then once you've chosen the precise model you want, they'll tell you what shops sell it, who has the best prices, what they charge for delivery and whether or not they have any in stock at the moment. Brilliant, isn't it?

You'll find all our price comparison partners listed in our special [Pricecheck] option from the [Resources] menu. So why not get into the habit of checking out a new bargain every day. Just think of all the things you're likely to buy over the next few months, visit one or two of our partners' websites and run through the simple comparison process. And at the end of each comparison, visit the website of one of the stores listing your chosen product to see if they have any really special deals today. They often do, so you could find yourself an ever bigger bargain than you thought.

You don't have to be a member to use The Wisdom Trust's Pricecheck pages. Just click through on the [Pricecheck] link in the [Resources] menu, visit some of the price comparison sites listed there, run through a comparison for anything you might want to buy now or over the next few months and check out the shops' websites for any really special deals today. That's it! Simple? Yes, of course. But by getting into the habit of doing this every day, not only will you become a better-informed consumer, but you could also help feed hungry children, protect the rainforest and endangered species, relieve poverty, improve healthcare where it's needed most, provide water in the poorest parts of the world and preserve our planet for future generations - and all for a few minutes of your time checking out the best prices of things you need, so you save money. Isn't that amazing?

Wisdom Trust Charity/Grant Fund - Helping Individuals Make A Difference

Introduction.

Everyone who registers as a friend of The Wisdom Trust, whatever their age and wherever they come from in the world, is allocated their own personal Wisdom Trust Charity/Grant fund as soon as they sign-up.

Now, whilst the money associated with the value of your personal Wisdom Trust Charity/Grant fund continues to remain under the control of The Wisdom Trust, you alone can decide what is done with the sum set aside in your name. Quite simply, by becoming a regular user of our website and by introducing The Wisdom Trust to your friends & family, you earn the right to choose what we do with some of our money. And there are several things you can choose to do with it.

You can donate it to one of our listed charities or good causes, offset some of your carbon emissions or apply for a Wisdom Trust Grant (an eco grant or an education grant) to reduce your carbon footprint at home or offset some of your higher education costs (university fees, for example).

Your fund starts at zero and accumulates small amounts of value every time you're awarded a Fundraising Credit (FC). The more FC's you get, the bigger your Wisdom Trust Charity/Grant fund will be.

How to add value to your grant fund.

1. Collect Credits - FC's.

Use the website's built-in education programs to earn credits (Fundraising Credits or FCs). These allocate value to your fund and show on the Bronze total within your stats report, which you can view in real time, 24 hours a day, using the [Stats] link on the [Members] menu, once you're logged in. The credits which make up the value of your Bronze total are gradually promoted through Silver to Gold (on a first-come-first-served basis along with every other members' credits) and it's the value in your Gold account which shows in the header report at the top of the page.

You can help ensure your own credits move faster from Bronze through Silver to Gold by:- a) Visiting some of the websites of our advertising partners through the [Surf] option on the [Resources] menu; b) Redirecting some of your normal online searches through our own search partners using the [Search] option on the [Resources] menu; c) Using our price comparison partners to check out the best prices for anything you want to buy over the next few months, through the [Pricecheck] option on the [Resources] menu; d) Redirecting some of your normal online shopping through The Wisdom Trust's shopping mall of over 1,000 shops and stores, using the [Shopping] option on the [Resources] menu.

2. Shop Online.

When you redirect some of your normal online shopping through The Wisdom Trust's shopping mall, not only will you earn 1 FC for every £2.50 you spend, but you'll also be awarded a small shopping bonus, based on the value of your purchase. This shopping bonus will be added straight into your Gold account total, once the purchase is approved by the shop in question, on the 22nd day of the month following your purchase. You'll also get a small shopping bonus when anyone you introduce (or anyone they introduce) shops online. So by shopping online and by introducing others who shop online regularly, you'll see your Gold account total increase in value on a regular basis.

3. Work Towards The Various Member Bonuses.

There are seven member bonuses, all detailed elsewhere in this help facility - they are:- Kingsfisher, Merlin, Nightingale and Sparrow Bonuses, plus Yew, Maple and Cedar Bonuses.

Most of these can add substantial amounts of extra credits to your Bronze account total, but one (the Kingfisher Bonus) adds a cash value straight into your Gold account total, on the 22nd day of the month following its award. You'll also earn credits (or a cash value in the case of the Kingfisher Bonus) when anyone you introduce (or anyone they introduce) get one of these Bonuses.

4. Introduce Friends, Family And Colleagues.

By introducing your friends, family and colleagues, and anyone else you know who uses the internet, your personal Wisdom charity/grant fund will benefit everytime they earn credits, shop online, win member bonuses or introduce people of their own. So the more people you introduce, the greater will be the potential growth of your own personal Wisdom charity/grant fund. For more information, see the Invite New Members section of this help facility.

What can you do with your grant fund?

a) you can donate some of it to a particular charity or good cause of your choice, from our list.

b) you can use some of it to offset your carbon emissions by calculating your carbon footprint then allocating some of your fund to offset a portion of it.

c) you can donate some of your fund to The Wisdom Trust's main charity fund, which will then be divided amongst our charities.

d) you can use some or all the value of your fund to apply for a Wisdom Trust grant, either to help towards the cost of items which reduce your carbon footprint at home (things like solar panels or boiler controls, for example), or, in the case of full-time students, to offset some of your own education costs, such as university fees, etc.

e) you can leave your account balance as it is and come back to it again at a later date.

Grade.

Introduction

The grade you've been able to achieve so far within The Wisdom Trust program is not only a measure of how you're doing from an educational viewpoint, but also of how much you're helping us to spread the word, by introducing your friends, family and colleagues - and even other charities or good causes.

The first grade (for all new members) is Yew Grade. To gain 'promotion' to the next level, Cedar Grade, a new member simply needs to introduce three new members from among their friends, family and colleagues. The next level is Maple Grade, and is achieved when the member has introduced six new members.

The other grades, Ash, Beech, Cypress, Oak, Elm, Pine and Redwood, will each be achieved when the member has three of their friends achieving the level below. So to reach Elm Grade, a member must have three friends on Oak Grade.

The benefit of achieving a higher grade is that a member will become eligible for the extra bonuses associated with each grade they achieve.

How to improve your grade.

To gain 'promotion' to the next grade, you simply need to introduce some new members, at least three of whom achieve the current grade you yourself have reached so far. The only exception to this rule is the Maple Bonus, which is simply an upgrade on the Cedar Bonus (6 new active members instead of 3). For example, therefore, to move from Oak Grade to Elm Grade, a member would need to have three of the people they've personally introduced achieve Oak Grade themselves.

Status.

Introduction.

Your current status indicates your current usage of The Wisdom Trust's website, for education and for other activities such as searching and shopping etc., and even for helping to spread the word by introducing friends, family and colleagues.

There are five levels for status:-

1. Unverified - indicating that the member hasn't yet verified their email address.

2. Standard - the member has verified their email address but is not yet 'active'.

3. Active - the member had 200 FC's in the previous or current month (60 FC's if it's their first month).

4. Active+ - the member is active themselves (as described above) and has three other members (personally introduce by them) who are also active.

5. Active++ - the member qualifies for Active+ status and has shopped online this month through The Wisdom Trust (and had their transaction approved).

How to improve your status.

Every new member starts as Unverified, but as soon as they have verified their email address, either by clicking on the link in the verifications email we send out or by sending a blank email to verifications@wisdomtrust.org, they will be automatically upgraded to Standard. Active status is achieved whenever the member has 200 FC's in the current month (or in the previous month), or 60 FC's if it's their first month. But you can't be Active if you're still Unverified. Active+ status is achieved when the member themselves is Active along with at least three of the people the've personally introduced. Finally, Active++ is an extra upgrade for Active+ members only, and applies in any month where they shop online and where their purchase has been approved by the shop in question.

What are the benefits of improving your status?

Everyone is awarded 1 FC when they log in, but extra FC's are awarded on login, for each higher level of status the member currently holds. So Standard status members get 2 FC's on login, Active status members get 3, Active+ status members get 4, and Active++ status members get 5.

Eco Grants.

Part of the mission of The Wisdom Trust and one of our key charitable objectives is to help our members reduce their personal carbon footprint at home. Firstly, we do this by educating members about hundreds of simple things they can do themselves (our eco tips) and secondly, we offer a grants scheme to help them fund projects at home which help them to save energy (and hopefully, save money as well).

As one of our members - a friend of The Wisdom Trust - you build up and add value to your personal Wisdom Trust Charity/Grant fund every time you log in and use the website's built-in education programmes. You can also add to its value when you introduce friends and family or shop online.

There are several ways you can then use the value of your fund to make a difference, and one of these ways is to apply for a Wisdom Trust eco grant.

Regular, committed members can use some or all the value of your Wisdom Trust Charity/Grant Fund to apply for an Eco Grant. This can be used to help offset the cost of items like solar panels or boiler controls etc. Items for which we will allow grants must be approved by The Carbon Trust, for their advertised purpose.

Once an application for an Eco Grant has been processed The Wisdom Trust will seek to locate a local, fully-accredited supplier of the required item. If the grant is for less than 100% of the total cost, we will advise the member of the balance that is due, so they can submit the difference to us prior to installation. Once the item is paid for in full, we will then arrange delivery and installation.

To apply for an Eco Grant, the value of your Wisdom Trust Grant Fund must exceed £100 and you must be active at that time (i.e. with at least 200 FC's this month or last month). To start the process, use the link from within the [Gold Money Options] page from the [Resources] menu, when you're logged in.

Education Grants.

As one of our members - a friend of The Wisdom Trust - you build up and add value to your personal Wisdom Trust Charity/Grant fund every time you log in and use the website's built-in education programmes. You can also add to its value when you introduce friends and family or shop online.

There are several ways you can then use the value of your fund to make a difference, and one of these ways is to apply for a Wisdom Trust education grant. We believe student poverty, (especially poverty amongst former students with huge outstanding loans), is going to become even more of an issue over the next ten years than it is today. By providing these Education Grants, The Wisdom Trust is doing its bit to help relieve this situation a little.

If you're a full-time student (or have been recently - within the last 5 years) you can use some or all the value of your Wisdom Trust Charity/Grant Fund to apply for an Education Grant to help offset the costs of your further education (university tuition fees etc.). Once an application for an Education Grant has been approved, The Wisdom Trust will contact the member for information about their course and loan provider etc.

To apply for an Education Grant, the value of your Wisdom Trust Grant Fund must exceed £100 and you must be active at that time (i.e. with at least 200 FC's this month or last month). To start the process, use the link from within the [Gold Money Options] page from the [Resources] menu, when you're logged in.

Carbon Offsetting.

Use the value of your Wisdom Trust Grant Fund to offset one or more tonnes of carbon emissions, created as a result of your own activities at home, in the car or while travelling. Our Carbon Offsetting program is supplied by Pure.org, one of our listed charities, whose offsetting scheme allows users to purchase Carbon Offsets through the European Carbon Trading Program. This represents actual savings achieved by big businesses all over Europe and is therefore more immediately accountable than traditional carbon offsetting schemes.

To begin the process, use the [Carbon Offsetting] link on the [Education] menu, when you're logged in.

Non-members will be allocated a unique six-character code, which they can remember and use the next time they go to Wisdom IQ so they can carry on with the same totals from their last visit.

Fundraising Credits.

Fundraising Credits (or FC's) are a measure of how much a member is using The Wisdom Trust website for learning (to become more aware about global issues), and also for shopping (to help support charities and good causes worldwide). There are a range of education programs within the website, through which members can earn Fundraising Credits. FC's can also be earned through shopping(1 FC for every £2.50 spent) and as a special award for introducing new members who become active themselves. All members will earn between 1 and 5 FC's every day, when they first log in.

Fundraising Credits have four benefits.

1. They divert more money from our Members Fund to the member's chosen charities and good causes (selected when they registered).

2. They add value to the member's personal Wisdom Trust grant fund.

3. They allow the member to earn extra votes (1 extra vote for every 10 FC's earned each day).

4. They allow the member to enter The Wisdom Trust Hall of Fame (an informal listing -in descending order - of every member who's earned FC's today, this week, this month and this year.

Gift Credits.

Gift Credits are awarded to both members and non-members. They are a measure of how much someone has used The Wisdom Trust website for learning more about the nig global issues - poverty, environment and health.

Gift Credits differ from the usual Fundraising Credits, in that they can also be awarded to non-members, whereas Fundraising Credits are for members only.

Gift Credits can be donated to any of the charities and good causes listed on The Wisdom Trust website.

Gift Credits accumulate in a special 'account' for each individual and this account is referenced by a unique user code of six characters. The individual (especially if they're a non-member) will need to remember this code, so that they can go back to the website at a later date and carry on with whatever Gift Credits they were awarded previously (less those they've already donated).

If your own favourite charity or good cause isn't yet listed on The Wisdom Trust website, but you'd like the opportunity to donate your Gift Credits to them, simply send them an email requesting they register themselves so you (and anyone else) can donate Gift Credits to them.

Member Bonus Awards.

The Wisdom Trust program features a range of bonus awards for members, in order to recognise those who achieve certain levels of activity within our team.

The first of these bonus awards - the Kingfisher Bonus - is based on a member's general activity on the website and is awarded to members in the first month they achieve 'active' status - 200 FC's per month (or 60 FC's if it's their first month).

The second bonus award is the Merlin Bonus. It's awarded to members who get themselves active and introduce at least 2 new members within the time limits for this award, which has three different values - one for achieving the qualification criteria within 2 weeks of joining, another for achieveing them by the end of the 1st month and a third for achieving them before the end of their 2nd month.

The third bonus award - the Nightingale Bonus - relates to shopping activity and is awarded to members who shop online, on the occasion of their first approved purchase via The Wisdom Trust shopping mall.

The fourth bonus award - the Swallow Bonus - also relates to shopping activity and is awarded to members who introduce at least four other members who each shop online and who thereby qualify for the Nightingale Bonus.

Three other bonus awards - the Cedar Bonus, Maple Bonus and Ash Bonus - have not yet become operational but relate to a member's ability to help us spread the word by forming a network of friends, family and colleagues.

Kingfisher Bonus.

The Kingfisher Bonus is designed to recognise when a new member steps us to the mark and starts to play an active part in our campaigns. It is awarded to members in the first month in which they achieve 'active' status - i.e. with 200 FC's within that month, or just 60 FC's (if it's their first month).

There is no time limit with this bonus. It will apply in the first month the member becomes active whether that's their first month or sometime in their 10th year of membership. It's worth £1.50 to the member, added to their grant fund on the 22nd day of the month after it's awarded.

And by encouraging any new members they introduce to work towards the Kingfisher Bonus, the 'introducing' member will be awarded a smaller amount as an extra bonus within this scheme (between 4p and 55p). This will apply each and every time the Kingfisher Bonus is awarded to anyone they introduce - and even to any new members introduced by those people as well (i.e. a 2nd generation of new members), and actually down through eight generations of friends and families.

In this way, if you help create a large network of friends, family and colleagues, who then take up the challenge and start introducing people of their own, and if you encourage them all to become active members of The Wisdom Trust team, we want to make sure your own effort in starting the whole thing off is recognised. The way we see it, without your help and without your introductions in the first place, we wouldn't have the opportunity to engage with and educate the members of your own network, i.e. you friends and family, their friends and family and so on....

Merlin Bonus.

The Merlin Bonus is designed to recognise those members who join our team, hit the ground running and very quickly start to help spread the word by introducing their friends, family and colleagues. It is awarded to members who can get themselves active (with 200 FC's in the month - or 60 FC's if it's their first month) and who can introduce at least 2 new members from among their friends, family and colleagues, who each get at least 15 FC's.

The Merlin Bonus is worth 2,000 FC's to the member who achieves the correct criteria for its award, as long as they achieve them by the end of the month after the month in which they joined. However, if they achieve the right criteria by the end of the same month in which they joined, the award will be worth 5,000 FC's, or increased to 10,000 FC's if they achieve the right criteria before the end of the 2nd week of their membership.

And by encouraging any new members they introduce to work towards the Merlin Bonus themselves, the 'introducing' member will be in line for an additional award under this scheme as well. This will apply each and every time the Merlin Bonus is awarded to anyone they introduce - and even to any new members introduced by those people as well (i.e. a 2nd generation of new members) and actually down through at least eight generations of friends and family.

In this way, if you quickly work towards creating a large network of friends, family and colleagues, who then take up the challenge and immediately start introducing people of their own, and if you encourage them all to become active members of The Wisdom Trust team, we want to make sure your own effort in starting the whole thing off is recognised. In this way, if you work towards creating a large network of friends, family and colleagues, who then take up the challenge and start introducing people of their own, we want to make sure your own effort in starting the whole thing off is recognised. The way we see it, without your help and without your introductions in the first place, we wouldn't have the opportunity to engage with and educate the members of your own network, i.e. you friends and family, their friends and family and so on....

Ash Bonus.

The Ash Bonus is designed to recogise those members who demonstrate good organisational skills and help our cause by introducing friends and family, some of whom, with the encouragement of the 'introducing' member, then reach out to friends, family and colleagues of their own. It is awarded to each member once three of the people they've introduced have earned the Cedar Bonus. The Ash Bonus is worth 2,050 FC's to the member.

And by encouraging any new members they introduce to use their own organisational skills to reach out and introduce other new members, in order to work towards the Ash Bonus themselves, the 'introducing' member will be in line for an additional award under this scheme as well. This will apply each and every time the Cedar Bonus is awarded to anyone they introduce - and even to any new members introduced by those people as well (i.e. a 2nd generation of new members) and actually down through at least eight generations of friends and family.

In this way, if you work towards creating a large network of friends, family and colleagues, who then take up the challenge and start introducing people of their own, and if you encourage them all to redirect some of their online shopping through The Wisdom Trust shopping mall, we want to make sure your own effort in starting the whole thing off is recognised. The way we see it, without your help and without your introductions in the first place, we wouldn't have the opportunity to engage with and educate the members of your own network, i.e. you friends and family, their friends and family and so on....

The Power Of One - How Individuals Can Really Make A Difference.

This illustration aims to demonstrate that the power of one is greater than you might think. Our goal is to show you that one person really can make a difference. It's not rocket science - you don't have to be a genius. It's a simple twenty week plan, where a small amount of effort at the outset by just one person could potentially reap incredible results by the end of the period.

This plan is relevant to everyone, anywhere in the world, regardless of age or experience. The only requirements are access to the internet, a passion to help make a difference in the world, lots of enthusiasm and a few friends who share your passion and enthusiasm.

The plan itself is simple in concept but if it's successful then the results could be substantial - and all from the efforts of just one person to start the ball rolling in week one. For example, if successful, this plan could generate a charity fund worth over £90,000 in total at the end of week twenty, and growing by more than £45,000 every week thereafter. Alongside that, however, we'll be building a charity fund for every person who joins our program, and for the individual who started the whole thing off, it could mean a personal Wisdom Trust charity grant fund worth about £18,000, and growing by more than £5,000 every week thereafter.

Which all means that not only will that individual be able to feel great satisfaction at having helped raise so much to support the work of many charities and good causes, but through their personal charity fund, they'd be able to reach out and offer financial support to those organisations they particularly wish to help - a local school or church, a favourite charity, a community group, sports club, hospital or heritage project, for example.

And every person who joins the campaign would create exactly the same opportunity for themselves, albeit one, two or three weeks (for example) behind that first person, depending on when in the program they join.

Below, we've detailed what you need to do to make this plan work for you. These notes would then form the blueprint for what everyone else needs to do as well.

1. Education: Learn something new every day through the website's education programs. Look at some facts from the online library, study some eco-tips and health-tips and aim to earn at least 10 FC's a day (on average). Repeat this every day, or at least 5 times per week.

2. Fundraising: Use the links on the [resources] menu to help put money into The Wisdom Trust's fund. Try to follow through on each of the three options below (a, b & c) every day, or at least 5 times a week.

a) Link to the [surf] option and use the banners there (and on the second page) to visit the websites of 4 or 5 (or more) of our advertising partners. Important: don't just click in and out of the websites - spend 10 or 20 seconds having a look round first.

b) Link to the [search] option and use the search boxes there (and on the second page) to complete 2 or 3 (or more) online searches - but don't forget to click through on one of the results Important: don't just click in and out of the websites you reach from the results - spend 10 or 20 seconds having a look round first.

c) Link to the [pricecheck] option and use the banners there to visit some of our price comparison partners to check out the prices for 1or 2 (or more) things you might be thinking about buying over the next 6 months (clothes, CDs, travel tickets, books, cameras, insurance, phones, etc) And make sure you link out to one of the shops offering the products you're looking at. Important: don't just click in and out of the shopping websites you reach through the comparison - spend 10 or 20 seconds having a look round first.

d) If you shop online, use the [shopping] link to visit our shopping mall to buy things through there.

3. Spreading The Word: Over the first week, get two or more friends or family involved. They need to be friends or family who are as equally committed as you, who can make the same commitment concerning points 1, 2 and 3 of these notes, especially this 3rd point to reach out to two or more of their own friends and family in the following week.

Still interested? Do you think it's straightforward enough? If the answer to both questions is yes, then why not get started straight away. Get a couple of your friends, family or colleagues interested enough to sign up (people who share your passion to make a difference) and you'll be well on your way. You will of course need to make sure that your two friends both understand the importance of points 1 and 2 and the need to get into the habit of doing these things every day (or at least 5 times a week). And then this week (their first week), they need to take up the challenge of point 3 and introduce 2 or more of their own friends and family. You can monitor the growth of your team through the [genealogy] link on the [charities] menu, when you're logged in.

If we can keep the momentum of this simple plan going over the next 20 weeks, then your efforts (and the efforts of your entire Wisdom Trust network, will have achieved the incredible figures above (or better). But let's face it, even if the plan is only 25% successful for you, it will still be an impressive result.

This level of funding would allow us to offer an incredible program of financial support for charities and good causes all over the world, making a huge contribution to relieving global poverty, reducing climate change and improving world health in every country, and probably helping to create more friendship, goodwill and understanding across all cultural, national, racial or religious boundaries at the same time.

On the other hand, however, if we slightly modified the plan, so that point 3 called for people to introduce three (or more) of their friends instead of two (or more), then the calculations would produce a charity fund of over £12 million (after just 18 weeks) with over £5 million being added to that total every week. Plus you yourself would have a personal Wisdom Trust grant fund of over £2.5 million (after just 18 weeks) allowing you to offer substantial support to the causes you particularly want to help, with over £1 million being added to that total every week. And, as detailed above, every person who joins our campaign has exactly the same opportunity, albeit one, two or three weeks (for example) behind you in their progress, depending on when in the program they join.

The key to this whole plan is the number of people joining every week. We have to keep that momentum going, which is why it's vital to make sure that at least two or three of the people you introduce are as keen as you to make a success of this program, so they'll introduce new people of their own within one week of joining (at least two or three of whom share the same enthusiasm).

Weekly Open Evenings in London.
The Wisdom Trust invites you to a series of open evenings at our new HQ in central London. Come along and join us to see how you can make a huge difference to charities, all over the world. These open evenings will take place every Tuesday evening.

The Wisdom Trust open evenings provide a perfect opportunity for people of all age groups, backgrounds and experience to come along and discover how, as a member of The Wisdom Trust volunteer team, they can make a huge difference both in their local community and all over the world as well.

Whatever your particular skills and experience, whether in PR, Marketing, Website-Design or Finance; Commerce, Law, Education or Environment; Health, Event-Management, Proofreading or Copywriting, we need your expertise now to help ensure the success of our incredible range of campaigns all around the world.

In addition, anyone who represents a particular charity or good cause will find it useful to attend one of our open evenings, where they'll discover that not only can we help promote their issues and campaigns on a global platform, via our website, but we'll also assist in creating a new income opportunity - from their existing support base - but without the need for anyone to put their hands in their pockets any more than they do already.

Over 550 charities and good causes are already listed on our website, including: NSPCC, Penny Brohn Cancer Care, Cambridge Students' Rag Appeal, WWF, Christian Aid, Kent Air Ambulance Trust, Footprint Trust, Greenford High School, Muslim Aid, UNICEF, Friends of The Earth, Camden City and Islington District Scouts, St Michael's Church Croydon, Shelter, War On Want, Cats Protection League, Diabetes UK, RSPB, British Heart Foundation, Comic Relief and Younger Generation Theatre Group.

70% of all our income is set aside for donations to support the work of other organisations, be they charities, schools, churches, community projects or local sports clubs. Provided your organisation's business model is not-for-profit, we can help you boost your fundraising potential today.

So do come along, have a cup of tea and talk to our team about how we can help your organisation better engage your support base and the key stakeholders within your organisation or the local community, by showing them how, with minimal effort, they can make a difference.

But we also offer help for individuals as well, through a range of special grants. Our Eco-Grants help cover the cost of things like solar panels or wind turbines to reduce their personal carbon footprint, whilst our Education-Grants are aimed at helping students offset the costs of their higher education. And for our all our volunteers, we also offer a free carbon-offsetting program and free enrolment for an NVQ in a subject of their choice.

The open evenings are quite informal events, with doors opening at 6pm and the evening will finish at 8pm. The address of the new training centre and the venue for our new weekly open evenings is 256 Edgware Road (3rd Floor), London W2 1DS. It’s just 30 seconds walk from Edgware Road tube station (Circle, District or Hammersmith/City lines entrance). If, on arrival, the ground floor reception isn't manned, ring 07703 583545 and we'll come down and let you in.

Please click here to confirm your attendance at either of the next two open evenings.

Thanks.

Withdrawal Of Paypal-based Members Donations Scheme.
The original Paypal-based scheme had been designed to allow members to apply for withdrawals from their funds in order to make their own private donations to smaller not-for-profit organisations and other local good causes (which at that time didn't qualify to be listed on The Wisdom Trust website).

Unfortunately, this scheme had to be withdrawn in 2007 after a period of consultation following the Trust's elevation to full charity status in November 2005. In conclusion, the trustees decided that the scheme couldn't properly be monitiored in order to ensure that funds were correctly allocated by every indivdiual to their chosen good causes.

Without clear and effective monitoring to demonstrate completely how all funds are allocated, we wouldn't be able to account for the correct use of all the trust's charitable income in order to comply fully with charity law.

To compensate for this, the trustees relaxed the criteria for organisations which could be listed on our website. From that point on, any not-for-profit or local good cause (big or small, registered or not-registered) could be listed, as long as they offered some benefit in their community and could demonstrate a clear not-for-profit business model. This would allow all our members to retain the opportunity to donate to any charitable organisation through the website and without the need to make any withdrawals from their Charity/Grant Funds. In this way, the original need for the Paypal scheme was effectively removed.

Our records indicate that it was not a particularly popular scheme anyway, as only 3 members had ever made use of it during the previous 2 years.

In addition, at this time, the trustees introduced the new Wisdom Trust Grant's scheme to give our members many more opportunities to make a difference.

Wisdom Trust Volunteers Qualify For Free NVQ.
Another great benefit for The Wisdom Trust through our partnership with BOLTA and The Arabic Centre For Career Development is that we can also take advantage of their own range of training courses for our volunteers.

Quite simply, any of our volunteers - registered friends of The Wisdom Trust - who achieve a given level of activity as a volunteer, will become eligible for a free online NVQ course, in a subject of their choosing.

As you can imagine, this is an incredible opportunity for all our volunteers. By volunteering for The Wisdom Trust (even those who do most of their volunteering online from home on their own computer) and thereby helping to make a difference to the big global issues of poverty, environment and health, any of our volunteers can qualify for a course which will be both interesting and beneficial to the individual who takes it, because it will be another positive item to add to their CV.

Courses will almost always be e-learning, meaning that they can be done at home, in your own time. For more information about this, please contact us by telephone or email.

New Central London HQ.
Our friends at The British Online Training Academy (BOLTA) and The Arabic Centre for Career Development, have generously offered use of their newly-opened training and conference centre in Edgware Road, as a new central London HQ for The Wisdom Trust. From now on, this will be our base in central London and will serve as a meeting place for our focus groups and for our new weekly open evenings.

The centre offers a small conference room for meetings, an office where some of our volunteers will be able to come and work at various time throughout the week, and a training room for larger meetings, presentations and training sessions. And all this is provided with a friendly cup of tea or coffee for all the visitors to The Wisdom Trust.

So if you're based in central London or can get into the city centre easily why not come and visit us at our new base and find out more about how you can get involved with The Wisdom Trust and be a part of all our exciting campaigns for the future. We'll be in the office at various times during the week, usually between 11am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, and you can contact us on 07703 583545, or just ring our normal office number, 01883 341199, and you'll be transferred through to the new office.

In particular, if you'd like to help us as a member of our editorial focus group,or as part of our fundraising, commercial, website or marketing teams, you'd be very welcome to come and work at our new office for a couple of hours each week. We hope to put together a rota of people who pop in and do their bit at different times of the week, so if you'd like to be considered for inclusion on the rota, let us know what days and times you'd be available.

The address of the new training centre is 256 Edgware Road (3rd Floor), London W2 1DS. It's just 30 seconds walk from Edgware Road tube station (Circle, District or Hammersmith/City lines entrance).

A Whole Range Of New Volunteering Opportunities.
The Wisdom Trust is really a unique charity - one of a kind. We're already reaching out all over the world, supporting the work of over 550 charities and good causes in more than 25 countries - and we're still only three years old.

Although our fundraising support for other charitable causes is important and provides a vital new funding opportunity for large and small charities alike, our main goal is to educate people about poverty, environment and health - and to help them to apply that new knowledge by showing them hundreds (even thousands) of simple practical tips everyone can bring into their own lives to a) reduce their personal carbon footprint and b) improve their own health.

And now, as part of our global campaigns, we're looking to expand the reach of our education programmes. We're just about to start working on a campaign in association with the International Confederation of Principals (ICP) to reach out to 300,000 schools all over the world (including all 37,000 schools right here in the UK). We want to help students and young people (and their parents, families and friends) learn more about the big global issues affecting the future of our planet - mainly poverty, environment and health.

We'll be offering them learning tools on our website together with lots of great tests and quizzes so they can see how much they've learned so far and assess their performance compared to everyone else in their class, or in their school or all over the world. And there'll be certificates and recognition for all students who get involved and aspire to one of the best in their class. On top of that, all the students in a class can work together to make their class the best in the school and the whole school can work together to make their school the best in the country.

But not only that, we'll be raising money from their use of our website with over 1,000 carefully-selected commercial partners and donating that fund to support the work of participating schools and of many other charites and not-for-profit good causes in their communities.

And right now, we're looking to meet with everyone who'd like to consider joining our team of volunteers to help us with this and all our other campaigns. Whatever your skills and experience, we'd like to chat with you so we can assess better where you could help us.

We're going to need a lot of people in order to ensure the success of this new campaign for schools in particular - and if we are successful, we'll be supporting not just 550 charities as we are now, but potentially several million charities and good causes all over the world. This will ensure that over the next five years, The Wisdom Trust, together with all our new partner schools, will be making a serious contribution to reduce climate change, relieve poverty and improve world health - and it will be a campaign driven forward by the young people on every continent.

So what can you do to help us make a difference all over the world?

We're looking for people to help us in all areas of our operation, and in particular for people who can become part of our management team for their own area of expertise to help co-ordinate all our other volunteers in that field. For example, we're looking for volunteers with particular skills (and possibly experience too) in:-

PR

Our PR team will work together to design and implement a strong PR/media strategy, to ensure that our public profile is always positive and to help prepare perfect press releases every time. With regard to our upcoming schools campaign, we'll be looking for our PR team to run campaigns in the local press here in the UK, in those areas where we're working with schools, so that we can reach out into the local region to engage other groups in the community. We'll also look to our PR team to keep our campaigns in the national media (TV, radio and newspapers) whenever possible - and each country where we start activities - so that public awareness about The Wisdom Trust and about The Wisdom Trust 'brand' is always high. If you have experience in the PR or media industry do get in touch with us as soon as possible to see how your skills can help us succeed in our schools campaign.

Website Programmers/Designers

The present website was put together originally by two of our trustees, who knew nothing about website design when they started. But we acknowledge now that with some big campaigns on the horizon - especially our worlwide campaign to schools, we now need something a bit more special. So we're currently in the middle of a complete rewrite of our existing website to provide us with a fantastic online adventure to excite and educate all our website visitors whatever their age or background.

IN particular, we want to make sure that our new website has a definite 'cool' factor to keep young people interested enough so they choose to return to the website for more of the same, again and again.

It's a big job we've set for ourselves, but with a potential worldwide audience of over 100 million people (including students, their parents, families and friends), we could be looking at something which could end up being even bigger than some of the big social networking site (for example). So we need a large team of experienced programmers who can help us ensure that every page on the new website is constructed with perfect 'industry-standard' coding so that it operates as fast and as efficiently as possible.

And of course, we're also going to need some experienced designers who can make sure every section of our website is both exciting and appealing, and easy-to-use too.

Finally, all our website programmers and designers would need to be just that little bit extra special, working together to take all the wonderful ideas coming out of our Education, PR and Marketing teams and turn those ideas into a fantastic online experience for our users.

Law

We're looking for people with all sorts of relevant legal experience to help us ensure that all our activities are compliant at all times (in every country where we're active), and to check through any contracts and assess any legal risks. IF you have any legal experience do get in touch today and join The Wisdom Trust volunteer legal team.

Strategy/Planning

With so many incredible projects all coming along at once, we're going to need some volunteers with experience of strategy planning to help us with forward planning and with co-ordinating all the various strategies from all areas of the operation, i.e. to make sure we move forward with 'joined-up thinking'. For example, with regard to our upcoming campaign to schools around the world, we'll need to make sure we have the right strategy planning in place to ensure the whole operation runs as smoothly as possible. So if you have eperience of strategy planning, do contact us today to see how you can help us.

Editorial/Copywriting

We think our editorial team will become one of the most important parts of our whole operation, being responsible for composing all our newsletters, articles and factsheets as well as ensuring that every word, phrase and paragraph on our website (and in hard copy) is relevant, accurate, easily-understood and as concise as possible. So if you have any experience in editorial matters, copywriting or proofreading, we'd like to hear from you today. Although most of the work of the editorial team can be done online, from home at times to suit each person, there will be weekly opportunities to meet up and discuss our editorial strategy round the table. These meetings will take place at our main office in Caterham, south London, on different evenings of the week and light refreshments will be provided.

Events Management

We're hoping to put together a team of brilliant events management specialists to help us deliver an exciting and innovative range of events of all types, all year round, including roadshows, festivals, seminars, training courses, fundraising events and new campaign launches. We also need a team of people to help us meet & greet the people who'll be attending our weekly open evenings at the London office and to prepare an interesting evening of varied content each week. If you have experience in event management or as part of an events team, contact us today to see how you can be part of this exciting team. With regard to our new campaign aimed at schools, we're particularly interested at the moment in putting together a roadshow event to tour round schools here in the UK.

Our plan is to develop an events program where we're organising at least one event every week, in addition to our weekly open evenings in central London. These will be a mix of music events, sports-related events, quiz nights, karaoke, fundraisers, outdoor events, networking and social evenings, education events and sometimes dance nights too. But we'll consider all ideas - so get your thinking cap on. We want our events program to allow us to engage with all kinds of people (in all age groups) and to show them that The Wisdom Trust isn't just about serious issues, it's about having fun too.

Finance

We're looking for some people with experience in all areas of financial matters to join our new Finance team to help us look outside our normal funding avenues to other funding opportunities. We'd also like this team to assess any possible financial risks and later on to advise on any investment opportunities for our fund. If you have any relevant financial experience, do contact us as soon as possible to get involved in our finance team.

Healthcare/Medical Issues

Our Healthcare team will be targetted to ensure that the healthcare information and health-tips on our website are as comprehensive as possible, as well as being accurate, relevant, up-to-date and interesting. Potentially our worldwide audience could exceed 100 million young people and their families so the information we're sharing with them could make a valuable contribution, not only in creating more awareness about the state of health and healthcare around the world, but in helping to improve the health of all our members as well. If you have experience in any area of the healthcare industry do get in contact with us today and join our Healthcare team.

Environmental Issues

Our Environment team will be targetted to ensure that the environment information and eco-tips on our website are as comprehensive as possible, as well as being accurate, relevant, up-to-date and interesting. Potentially our worldwide audience could exceed 100 million young people and their families so the information we're sharing with them could make a valuable contribution, not only in creating more awareness about the dangers of climate change and environmental destruction, but in helping to change people's behaviour to reduce their personal carbon footprints and help protect their local environment. If you have experience in any area of the environment or wildlife sectors do get in contact with us today and join our Environment team.

Education

We hope that our Education team will comprise of people with a strong background in education (teachers, for example, or even retired teachers or headteachers). The task of this team will be to help us ensure that our education (both online and offline) is delivered in as interesting, enjoyable and informative a way as possible, so people of all age groups learn something new on each visit to the website and choose to come back for more, as often as possible. We want our Education team to use all their collective experience to imagine, discuss and design innovative and exciting new education programmes to add something new to our existing library of programmes, helping all our users more to learn about the big global issues and about what they can do to help make a difference.

The Education team will work closely with both the Environment team and the Healthcare team to ensure the information they provide is delivered to our users via the range of proposed new education programmes, and they'll work with the Website team to make sure the programme ideas are turned into amazing online tools for learning. If you have experience in any area of education we urge you to contact us today and join our Education team.

Marketing

The task of our Marketing team will be to help us put together fantastic marketing campaigns, preferably at zero (or little) cost, both online and through our media contacts, in co-operation with the PR team. We're particularly interested in using social networking websites as marketing tools, and we'd like to experiment with viral marketing as a tool to reach out to as many people as possible, with minimal effort. Our Marketing team will work closely with both our PR team and our Events Management team to deliver the best possible marketing campaigns - with fantastic results every time. If you have experience in any area of the marketing industry or even if you consider yourself a brilliant networker, do get in touch with us as soon as possible to join our Marketing team.

Fundraising/Networking

We're looking to put together a Fundraising team which will closely study all methods of fundraising, with the exception of ever asking our members for donations - we just don't do that. Much of our fundraising is done through the website via our various affiliate marketing agreements and we'd encourage our Fundraising team to work closely with our Marketing team to implement a disciplined viral marketing campaign to increase our income substantially over a relatively short period of time. But we'd also like our Fundraising team to look at other opportunities - fundraising events (for example), working in co-operation with our Events Management team, and even reaching out into the corporate world to seek donations from there. Finally, we hope our Fundraising team will be able to assess and apply for any funding available from other trusts and foundations. If you have experience in any area of fundraising do get in contact with us and join our Fundraising team as soon as possible.

Commercial

One of the main areas from which The Wisdom Trust generates funds is from our extensive range of commercial partners. These include online shops, search engines, auction houses, price comparison websites and general advertisers, all of whom pay us a fee for advertising on our website, or for each completed search or price comparison and (in the case of online shops) when someone makes a purchase from their website after linking to it from ours.

We need a team of well-organised people to form a Commercial team, whose responsibilities will include the management of all these partners to ensure that we're promoting them adequately on our website and that any adverts of banners are relevant, Current, seasonal (where appropriate) and up-to-date. We have over 1,000 shops and search engine partners alone and this could expand to many times that number. But if managed correctly, the potential income from all these partnerships could be substantial.

If you are a well-motivated, organised person, who enmjoys a challenge, why not contact us to become part of our Commercial team and help us put together one of the most exciting shopping experiences on the internet, generating huge sums for charity every month, You'll be able to work almost entirely from home, one your own computer, so your working hours can be very flexible indeed.

In all these areas, we hope to be able to invite exceptional people to join our board of trustees as the representative of their chosen area of expertise.

The Wisdom Trust is committed to playing its part in improving our environment, as well as helping to relieve poverty and improve world health, and within a few clicks, you too can be part of our work. We offer a unique experience, allowing people of all ages and backgrounds to engage with charities worldwide, and enabling them to learn or contribute to our work whenever they can. We work hard to make this as easy as possible; our education and fundraising programmes run at no cost to our members and both are linked to our loyalty credits scheme, so anything our members do to help the global community also benefits themselves!

By working together, we can make a difference. We can improve our world for the benefit of all. Join us today and be part of our future. With The Wisdom Trust, even doing just a little can still help a lot.

A Footnote On Education...

1. A Fact From Our Library

At present only about 15% of plastic bottles used in the UK are recycled, but due to a lack of facilities most of the recycling work needs to be sent to China.

2. An Ecotip From Our Library

Use Empty Smoothie Bottles For Storing Single-Portion Soups.

You could use small empty smoothie (or fruit juice) bottles to store individual portions of soups etc. Clean the empty bottle, fill with your soup, let it cool down then pop it into the freezer.

Great if you have a limited amount of freezer space, or you only cook for yourself.
