Our Mission.
The Wisdom Trust uses the internet and a range of innovative online education tools to raise awareness about poverty, environment and health issues and to create a fund from which we can support the work of other charities and good causes worldwide.
Our mission therefore is in two parts:
1. Education.
Our main charitable objective is to educate people about poverty, environment and health, in order to empower them with wisdom so they can become more socially responsible about the planet we live in.
We hope to provide not only a useful repository of wisdom but also a vehicle to help people apply their new wisdom in their daily lives. In this way, through gentle encouragement towards a range of simple changes in their behaviour, we hope to help them lead a more sustainable life, alongside a wider understanding about the rich diversity of culture and traditions throughout the world.
2. Global Charity Support.
In addition to our educational goal, We strive to raise funds online when people visit our website to learn. We achieve this by offering our website not just as a great learning tool, but also as a simple gateway for everyone's other normal online activity (searching, surfing and shopping, for example).
We then donate most of this fund to support the work of hundreds, if not thousands, of great charitable causes all over the world. The people who use our website help us decide how we allocate that fund by voting online (every day, if they wish) for their favourite causes.
Our Vision.
Our vision is to reach out to people, charities and good causes on every continent.
We will reach out to deliver our education programmes and charity support to an ever-increasing number of users, so that ultimately, we'll be engaging with people and organisations within every sector of the charity community in every nation of the world.
• We aim to empower people, of all age groups and backgrounds, by suggesting simple ways of doing their "bit".
• We aspire to provide a range of educational tools at all levels, accessible to a diverse global population and promote the messages of our partner charities and good causes.
• Our view on fundraising is clear and our concept unique - no hands in pockets and active support of the charitable community as a whole: we want to make this the rule, not the exception.
• Working together, we achieve more, so creating friendship, goodwill and understanding across all boundaries is core to our mission and our success.
• Overheads are kept to a minimum, as every misspent penny is a wasted donation. Currently, we have no salaried staff, no paid offices and no desire to change that.
• Maximum visibility means minimal confusion, so we are 100% accountable for all our activities.
