Understanding The Issues - Learning Something New Every Day.

Learn Something New Every Day - Become More Aware About The Big Global Issues.

One of the main objectives of The Wisdom Trust is to help everyone become more aware about the big global issues affecting the future of our planet, especially poverty, environment and health. Our education programmes are suitable for all ages and as you learn, you'll be able to earn credits (known as Fundraising Credits or FC's).

These FC's divert money from our special Members Fund to your nominated charities, so as you learn we'll be offering more support to your chosen causes. FC's also give you a position in the members' Hall of Fame, and help build your own personal Wisdom Trust Charity/Grant Fund.

At present, there are two education programmes available on the website, where you test yourself and earn FC's for each correct answer. These are Wisdom Aware and Wisdom IQ

You can also earn FC's by looking at a range of facts every two hours, via the Bonus FC's links on the Education Menu. There are two further programmes where you can look at a range of simple Eco-Tips and Health-Tips to give you some ideas about how you can reduce your own personal carbon footprint or improve your own health.

A Footnote On Education...

1. A Fact From Our Library

£1.2 billion of electricity is used each year running fridges and freezers in UK homes, nearly as much electricity as used in all the offices right across the country.

Use Milk For Healthier Plants.

Here's a secondary use for milk that might make your plants healthier. It's a great use for that last quarter cup of milk at the bottom of the bottle that's now past its best.

Milk has natural anti-fungal properties that deter some plant mildews, and the recipe for this plant spray could not be more simple - milk and water.

Various recipes differ on the amount of each. Some call for a lot more water than milk and one calls for equal parts of each. You'll have to experiment to see what works for you.

When you spray your milk solution, make certain you spray the underside of the leaves as well and then repeat every week or so until the mildew disappears.

One recipe suggests a slightly more complicated formula involving a dash of garlic, baking soda and soap. They say raw milk works best, but if you don't happen to have a cow, not much you can do about that.
