Wisdom Trust Wisdom-Tip - 11-11-2008

Wisdom Tip.

Build Yourself A Grant Fund For Eco-Friendly Products.
All friends of The Wisdom Trust are eligible for a grant towards items such as solar panels, wind turbines, water butts, compost bins or loft insulation etc. Your grant fund builds value as you use The Wisdom Trust website for education, for online research and also for shopping. For some (or all) these activities, members are awarded Fundraising Credits (or FC's) and these build up on each member's personal Wisdom 'charity/grant' account, adding to its value. So the more you learn, the bigger your grant fund will become.

But since the main aim of The Wisdom Trust is to create a wider awareness, we like to give that little bit extra to those members who help us spread the word by introducing their friends, family and colleagues, or who introduce other organisations to our program. With this in mind, your personal Wisdom 'charity/grant' fund will also gain value from the FC's awarded to your friends and family (and to anyone you introduce) and even for the FC's awarded to their friends and family, and so on... down through a minimum of eight generations of friends and family.

So the more people you introduce to The Wisdom Trust and the deeper your entire network of friends family goes, the more you'll accumulate in your personal Wisdom 'charity/grant' fund. You can check its value online 24 hours a day, using the 'stats' button on the menu.

The Wisdom Trust is committed to playing its part in helping to protect our environment, as well as relieving poverty and improving world health, and within a few clicks, you too can be part of our work. We offer a unique experience, allowing people of all ages and backgrounds to engage with charities worldwide, and enabling them to learn or contribute to our work whenever they can. We work hard to make this as easy as possible; our education and fundraising programmes run at no cost to our members and both are linked to our loyalty credits scheme, so anything our members do to help the global community also benefits themselves!

By working together, we can make a difference. We can improve our world for the benefit of all. Join us today and be part of our future. With The Wisdom Trust, even doing just a little can still help a lot.

Reuse Paper Bags

Bringing your own bags with you when you shop is a great way to cut down on waste, but it's also easy to repurpose the paper bags that you can't avoid, or that you still have lying around the house.

Few paper bags are made of recycled or alternative fibres, meaning trees have to be cut down for their manufacture. True, many communities have paper recycling, so you can often drop old bags at the local recycling centre (or use the bags to hold other paper for pickup). However, paper fibres can only be recycled a few times, because they start to break down. So it's better to press old bags into service before you send them off for recycling.

Paper bags are great for lining waste bins or animal cages, versus petrol-based plastic liners you would otherwise buy. They can be used to cover books to help them last longer, and can be turned into gift wrap (which you can have fun decorating) or packaging material.

Paper bags have thousands of other possible applications, so get creative!
